SGI releases definition for excessive loudness, will hold education days

SGI is making some noise about their work in defining how loud is too loud for vehicles in Saskatchewan. Previously, no exact definition was set for when a vehicle was too loud, with drivers and enforcement officers having to guess. This applies to all light vehicles such as passenger cars, pickup trucks, minivans, SUVs and motorcycles. Now, with the new definition, SGI Spokesperson Tyler McMurchy is hoping the new information helps people to keep the streets quiet. “The standard of 101.3 decibels was based on research conducted by SGI on federally compliant vehicles. I believe they went to a dealership…

The “science of reading” inspired by the National Reading Panel was never scientifically tested for efficacy by experts before it was presented as the only way to teach reading. Try reading this. The topic is “reading”: Ti is pssbleoi to rdea wtouthi snoudign otu wdros. I’ev jtsu dmsteontrade it. Instead of decoding the sentence, the brain must look for the message. Adequate growth defined for summer school

As Tennessee third graders who fell short of a new state standard to move on to fourth grade navigate the next steps, the state education board has given a long-awaited definition to a key term: “adequate growth.” The term appears in the state’s guidelines for students who scored as “approaching” proficiency on the English language arts section of the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program test this spring. The state released raw scores for that section of the TCAP to districts Friday. Per the guidelines, those students have a chance to attend summer school and demonstrate adequate growth to advance to fourth…
