OUTSaskatoon has put all of its education and support services on hold after a slew of layoffs and the resignation on Wednesday of its executive director.

“We have taken these steps which are necessary for OUTSaskatoon to be able to continue serving the community,” said board chair Melody Wood. “We deeply regret the need for this action as we value the contribution of all of our employees.”
The release cites “the pressure of the pandemic” and a decrease of grant funds as the reasons for the staffing changes.
OUTSaskatoon says it expanded its human resources to handle a significant increase in demand during the pandemic and has not been able to maintain the funding levels to sustain that growth — to the extent that the financial strain has limited its ability to maintain services.

In a Tuesday post on Instagram, OUTSaskatoon said all of its education and support services — including drop-in and group programs and phone lines — are on hold until further notice.
A comment added to the post clarified the services will resume Monday, “with some changes to capacity.”
“We ask the community for their support and understanding US we navigate through these challenging times and that this news not take away from the mission and the values of what OUTSaskatoon stands for,” Wood said.
