The Anglophone East district education council has voted to implement what it describes as a strengthened version of the New Brunswick government’s Policy 713 to protect LGBTQ students.
The elected council that oversees 39 schools in southeastern New Brunswick voted unanimously in favor of creating the policy in a rebuke to provincial changes to Policy 713 announced this month. The motion says the changes “endanger students in our district.”

‘It’s micromanaging’: Unions say Quebec education reform won’t solve issues – Montreal
Dressed in medieval garb Friday, members of the Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) clamored that “his majesty” Quebec Education Minister Bernard Drainville doesn’t want to listen to school support staff.
Union members were outside Quebec’s National Assembly, upset they were not invited to hearings over Bill 23, the province’s education reform.

17 regional student advocates appointed by the Quebec education ministry
The Ministry of Education on Wednesday named 17 regional student advocates who will assist their national counterpart, Jean-François Bernier.
The education ministry announced in a press release that the chosen individuals would “handle all complaints from students and parents, including those concerning bullying, violence and sexual abuse against students attending an educational institution.”
