RIYADH/CAIRO: Egypt, a land of ancient treasures and stunning beaches, has long been a magnet for tourists from around the world. However, in recent years, the country’s tourism sector has faced numerous challenges, including the impact of COVID-19, sporadic incidents of terrorism, and shark attacks.
Unlike terrorism and the pandemic, however, shark attacks are relatively common. Last week’s fatal attack on a Russian tourist, captured in horrific detail in a viral video, has forced Egyptian authorities to address the constant threat posed by the sea’s 49 different known species of shark.

Education: Find out which parties stand before the Alberta votes
Funding Alberta’s school system is the province’s second-largest expense after health care, accounting for about 13 per cent of the budget this year. While the government tries to attract immigrants and skilled workers to meet the demands of the labor market, many people arrive with children or start families in Alberta.
The influx of people has led to the sometimes rapid growth of Alberta’s K-12 student population. From September 2018 to a preliminary count in September 2022, the number of students has grown by nearly 36,000, or about five per cent. However, that growth has been uneven, with urban and…
NB sex education curriculum included in review of school gender identity policy – New Brunswick
New Brunswick education minister Bill Hogan says the province is looking at how it teaches students about gender identity and transgender issues as part of a broader review of the policy intended to protect LGBTQ2 youth.
The province revealed it was reviewing Policy 713, intended to create an inclusive environment for LGBTQ2 youth, earlier this week following “hundreds” of complaints from parents and teachers. Hogan confirmed Wednesday that the review also includes a sex education curriculum, particularly when it comes to how students are taught about gender identity.
“I want to ensure that the rights are protected and that when…

Chad Tolonen, who owns Timmins Mechanical Solutions, visited the school to donate a remote control excavator and show them how it works.
“It’s a replica of a 48-tonne machine,” said…

A group of parents of trans children are reportedly planning to sue the government over schools and teachers supporting their kids.
The case is being brought by the Bad Law Project and will see a group of parents sue the Department for Education for failing to protect their children from so-called “trans ideology”.
The group accuses ministers of failing to provide teachers with guidelines, which they claim has resulted in “damaging” ‘gender ideology’ taking place in schools.
As well as this, the group…
